Mozilla Firefox is a well known browser that has tons of features to help you organize your bookmarks, but sometimes, you can find it a bit difficult to organize your bookmarks. The problem arises when you have too many tabs open at once, overlapping one another. Other than that, it is easy to quickly find a bookmark you have used multiple times, and it is also easy to download the Firefox addon, Bookmarks Menu, which makes it easier to organize your bookmarks.
I spend a lot of time using the Firefox web browser. I’d like to get organized and have a set of rules for organizing my bookmarks. I’ve tried a few things, but I’ve never found one solution that meets all my needs. Here are my rules: I organize bookmarks by types. I have a separate folder for each type: Firefox Add-ons, Extensions, Articles, etc. I use a different color for each type of bookmark.
Have you ever had to look through a long list of bookmarks to find the one you’re looking for? It’s easy to get overwhelmed. Keeping track of so many bookmarks can be difficult. However, there is a solution: organize bookmarks. You can take control of your bookmark library by using Firefox’s Bookmark Menu to organize your bookmarks into folders. Organizing bookmarks is quicker than using the ‘bookmarks’ menu, and it also keeps you from being overwhelmed.
It seems that many Mozilla Firefox users are having trouble organizing their bookmarks. Very often we find that our bookmarks are cluttered with non-functional or duplicate links that we no longer use. In this article, you will find many useful tips on how to keep your bookmarks under control for a while.
You downloaded Firefox, and after using this browser for a while, you found that your bookmarks were cluttered. The first thing you need to do is delete the bookmarks you no longer need. Don’t be surprised by the thousands of bookmarks we will be organizing! To accomplish this difficult task, you will need help. You can search the additive. There are two effective add-ons called the Bookmark Organizer and the Bookmark Expander.
However, we recommend that you save your bookmarks before using add-ons!
To save bookmarks, do the following:
- First press the Alt key to activate the menu bar. Click View All Bookmarks. You can also use the key combination Ctrl+Shift+B.
- A new window will appear where you need to click on Import and Backup, then you need to click on Backup…….
3. You have to move them to the folder and click save. Make sure you choose a safe place to save your Firefox bookmarks.
Your bookmarks are now saved. You can try using add-ons to remove things. In any case, you have nothing to lose. Let’s get started.
We will now test two popular add-ons. If you play with their settings, you can add some features to clean up your Firefox bookmarks.
We’ll start with the Systemcluster bookmark deduplicator. You can access this add-on by simply going to the add-ons screen. To open it, press the Alt key and go to Tools, then Add-ons. You can also use the key combination Ctrl+Shift+A.
Find the bookmark deduplicator and check the options.
Find the Search button (at the bottom of your PC screen).
After clicking on the Search option, a new window will appear.
This list shows duplicate links. Many users are frustrated because they don’t see the statistics/comparisons. If you want to delete them, click Delete All. You may receive a warning. To ignore them, click Next. The process of removing bookmarks from Firefox takes only a few minutes.
Now let’s try out the features of Sören Hentzschel’s Bookmark Organizer. The user interface is very intuitive compared to the previous add-on. You will then see a small icon in your browser toolbar. Click on this icon to get started.
You need to click on the broken bookmarks field. You can select three options:
- Broken bookmarks are links that don’t work.
- Duplicates are bookmarks that have the same URL.
- Missing bookmark names are all items that have no name.
Delete duplicate bookmarks
You need to select the Duplicates option from the list and click on Check bookmarks…… click. Note that compared to the first bookmark splitter we tested, there is no option to mass delete duplicate bookmarks. It is also important to note that the speed of this application depends on your internet speed. The application opens all links in the Firefox bookmarks. There is a potential security risk if some links are infected with viruses. Before you can use these add-ons, your antivirus program must be activated and updated.
Check for broken tabs/references
If you want to check all the bookmarks that are not working, click Recheck bookmarks….. It’s gonna take a little more time. If you use Firefox at the same time, your browser may be blocked. If you do not want to receive the Do Not Respond status, it is therefore recommended that you do not use Firefox until the process is complete.
Click the Remove all non-functional bookmarks option and click Restore all redirects. You may need to repeat this step a few times to clear all errors and warnings.
