Samsung launches 3 new flat-screen Odyssey Gaming monitors

Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled three new monitors designed for gamers. The Odyssey XG is the smallest and lightest of the bunch; it comes in two sizes and two sizes of QHD resolution. The larger XG is the most customizable, with the most customizable game modes, and a timer that counts down to a preset alert. The XG also supports Game Mode, which reduces input lag and motion blur, by applying an artificial blur filter to the game image. The XG’s Peak Illuminator is designed to minimize screen-door effect, while the ZeroFrame technology and Game Mode are intended to make the monitor better suited for competitive gaming.

With the announcement of their new flat screen Odyssey gaming monitors, Samsung hit the ground running with an aggressive launch strategy that involved the media and the public. It started with a full day media launch followed by a series of in-home events that included a lunch at the Samsung UHD TV Studio in New York City, where the monitors were on display, a meet and greet with the cast of the new TV series “Daredevil” (season 2) and a few hours of gameplay with a preview of the “Battlefield 1” video game. After the launch, people who purchased the monitors were able to sign up for a chance to be part of a live streaming gaming event on Twitch, a popular live streaming platform for video gamers.

The South Korean company has just released a trio of new LCD monitors with ultra-wide aspect ratios and support for HDR technology. The new, and very different, models come in a range of sizes and display resolutions, with prices starting at $349.

Samsung has unveiled an expanded range of Odyssey gaming monitors for 2021, which now includes flat panel displays, including the 28-inch Odyssey G7 monitor. Odyssey G5 27 inch and Odyssey G3 in 24 and 27 inch variants.

After launching curved gaming monitors in 2020, the company is now offering the Odyssey series of flat panel displays. Samsung says the new gaming monitors will be available from the 21st. June will be available worldwide, but at the time of writing, only one purchase request button was available on the company’s website for all new products.

The two top-of-the-range models, the G7 and G5, offer features such as multi-screen management, picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture support, and automatic source switching.

The expanded line of Odyssey gaming monitors will enrich these experiences for more gamers, whether they want to win a tournament or simply discover a great new game, said Hesun Ha, senior vice president of the Visual Display Division at Samsung Electronics.
