Shroud of the Avatar’s Release 91 introduces crates as daily questgivers

As Release 91 arrives, one of the things we’re going to see in the game is the introduction of a new way to collect crafting ingredients, which we’re calling “crate quests.” What makes these quests different is that they become daily quests that have to be completed, and they’re distributed in a set location, keeping the questgiver from running around the Dwarf ruins all day.

Release 91 introduced crates as daily questgivers/quests. These are found under the Category Support tab on the quest log. There are thirteen different types of crates.

Longtime MOP readers know that Shroud of the Avatar is a controversial game in the MMO space. The game, which launched in 2013, and its original studio have been criticized for cutting promised features, exaggerating crowdfunding, delaying rewards on Kickstarter, hiding their corporate governance and office status, and ignoring Securities and Exchange Commission documents legally required for crowdfunding the game’s shares. In 2019, Richard Garriot’s company, Portalarium, sold SOTA to its lead developer and essentially withdrew from the game. Questions from the press were met with repeated denials and insults, and crowdfunding investors were abandoned without warning, but the game still has players and is evolving, as we keep telling you.
